In-Service/Professional Development Conferences
KMEA
offers a number of professional enhancement opportunities
for music educators including the yearly In-Service
Professional Development Conference. As a part of
this conference fifty or more clinic sessions are sponsored
yearly for in-service and pre-service teachers and over
forty performing groups provide a variety of concerts
for the music educators and parents who attend.
Students are provided with the opportunity to participate
in three Kentucky All-State Choruses [SATB, SSA, TTBB],
three All-State Bands [Concert, Symphonic, Jazz], the
All-State Orchestra and Commonwealth String Orchestra,
and a group for elementary and middle school children,
the Kentucky Children's Chorus, and the Kentucky Junior
High Chorus. Selected as the result of rigorous auditions,
these groups are conducted by outstanding conductors
and music educators.
