2008 SMBC Regional Quarterfinals Performance Order
See notes below the chart regarding east/west assignment.
Click here for Semifinals and Finals info.

Regional Quarterfinals sites were selected and classes were paired by the marching band committee on April 26, 2008. Chief among the criteria used were geographical proximity for participating bands in each classification, matching class assignments with host band classifications, and site logistics.

Because avoiding ACT causes the window for competition to start and end later than normal, the class order at dual class sites is chosen with consideration for travel time AFTER the event, especially bands travelling from and event in the Central time zone home to the Eastern time zone.

Rule IV.A.5. The KMEA Executive Director will hold a drawing following the August 1 deadline to determine the order of performance in each class at the Regional Quarterfinals for all bands that submitted a completed application on time. Bands that do not qualify for State Championships will be removed from the performance order.

Explanatory notes regarding assignment of bands to regions in 2008

In Class A for 2008, there are twelve bands west of an obvious geogrphical gap, and fourteen that are east of that gap. KMEA policy specifically states that classes must be divided equally, when possible. Lexington Christian Academy, an apparently east region band, is the closest of all the apparently east region class A bands to Princeton, the site of the West A Regional Quarterfinals, so that band is assigned to that site.

In Class AAAA for 2008, there are eight bands west of an obvious geographical gap, and eighteen that are east of that gap. In this case, the five schools that are closest to Bowling Green, the site of the West AAAA Regional Quarterfinals, are assigned to the West Regional Quarterfinal.

In both cases, travel distance by road AND travel time, according to Google Maps, were considered to establish which school(s) were to be assigned to the West Region.
