2006: Jacob Hein is
dedicated in all areas of music education. His experience
in teaching band, music theory and
general music support
that he has explored his options and all facets of music
education. Jacob attended Murray State University
where he was very active in the Murray State CMENC Chapter.
Mr. Hein participated in the KMEA Inter-Collegiate Band
in 2004 and 2005, as well as many Murray State
Instrumental
Ensembles throughout his college career. Appearing on the
Dean's List numerous times and holding a high overall GPA
exhibits Jacob's dedication to his studies, in addition
to his music.
2007: Bronson Murphy, a Greenwood High School graduate, was
a
vocalist at Western Kentucky University where he studies with Wayne Pope. He
directed a church
choir, was
on the staff of the Jenny Wiley Theatre summer season, and sang in the WKU
Chamber Singers and the University Choir. He was involved in the Opera Theatre
Program, and soloed in several Bowling Green churches. He won serveral
vocal competitions and was chapter secretary for Pi Kappa Lambda, the national
college music honor society. He served KMEA by assisting with vocal festivals
held at Western. Bronson was carrying a 4.0 GPA, indicating his dedication
to scholarship beyond his musical endeavors. His recommendations spoke of
his charisma, his warmth, his integrity, and his humility.
2008: Joel
Watson, a 2005 graduate of Henderson
County High School, attended the University of Louisville
majoring in music education. He was a member of
CMENC (chapter president 2007–2009), Golden Key International Honors Society,
National Society for Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), the National Dean’s List,
and the International Trumpet Guild (chapter secretary in 2007). He was the trumpet
section leader of the Cardinal Marching Band in 2006 and 2007 and was one of
the
three drum majors for the 2008 season. He also was a member of the University
Symphonic Band (principle trumpet), Jazz Ensemble II. He was on the
MAT program at the University of Louisville, a program granting a Master’s
degree in teaching one year after receiving a Bachelor’s degree in music
education.
2009: Susan
Abell, a graduate of Greenwood High School, attended
Western Kentucky University majoring in music education.
She was a member of Delta Omicron and CMENC.
She played in the Bowling Green Western Symphony Orchestra
and studied with Sarah Berry. She participated
in numerous musical and service endeavors in the Bowling
Green area.
2010: Cameron Gish, a graduate of Daviess County High School, attended Murray State University, majoring in music education.
He
was
a
member
of
CMENC, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
His major applied area was euphonium, and he was a student of Ray Conklin.
