Derek Crafton & Christie
Stumpf are taking several members of the Ohio Co.
High School Chorus to Louisville to see "THE LION
KING" June 24 and then we are spending the next day
at 6 Flags Kentucky Kingdom.
Christie Stumpf has been named to the "Who's Who
of American Women" for 2007. Christie has also been
named to the "Cambridge Who's Who Executive &
Professional Registry" for 2008. Christie is retired
after 31 years teaching elementary music in Ohio Co. She
is active in District II having completed 2 terms as elementary
chair. She is also a member of the Owensboro Symphony
Chorus and Owensboro Choral Society, and is active with
the summer musicals with TWO. She is a charter member
of the Courthouse Players in Ohio Co. She continues to
have students participating in the KYACDA All-State Chorus
and the District II Choral Festival.
Maribeth Logsdon (Union Co.) is retiring this year.
Karen Higdon, Daviess Co. string teacher, has been appointed
Planning Committee Chair for the 2009 American String
Teachers Association Annual Convention in Atlanta, GA.
Fran Kick will be presenting a student leadership seminar
at Henderson County High School on July 6. This workshop
is appropriate for drum majors, section leaders, etc.
For more information on the presenter got to: www.frankick.com.
For more information on the seminar, contact Steven Page:
steven.page@henderson.kyschools.us.
District 2 All-State choral auditions will be held at
Apollo on September 27 th, which is earlier this year
due to the onset of Fall breaks and we hope all schools
can participate in them... If a school has a new choral
person please e-mail Selliott@dcps.org so that I may get
you in the address book and on a mailing list. The Song
for audition this year is "My Heart is Offered Still
to you " Lassus... We should have this somewhere
tucked away in our files as it has been used before....
thanks Sarah Elliott, Apollo High School.
The MNHHS Choral Department participated in the Music
in the Parks competition at Six Flags Over Georgia and
returned with several high honors. The Chamber Singers,
Festival Chorus, and the Chamber Singers Women’s
Ensemble each received first place honors in each of their
performing categories, with the Women’s Ensemble
winning the Overall High School Chorus award.
They also ended their weekend trip with a performance
of the National Anthem at the Atlanta Hawks / Chicago
Bulls NBA basketball game. The MNHHS Choral Department
is under the direction of Brett Burton.
