Commission Report
The district decided to commission a piece to celebrate the lives of the victims of the ComAir Flight 5191. Immediate Past President Brent Barton is going to continue coordinating this project through completion. Earlene Rentz of Lancaster, Kentucky has been contracted as the composer. The piece will be for choir and orchestra/band to allow for the most groups possible to perform the work. As of now, the text has been written and the music is currently being composed. It is the hope of the District that the piece will be performed at the 2008 KMEA Conference.

Good News
Garrard County High School Director of Bands Chris Vance as well as Assistant Directors Noel Green and Keith Brown were presented with the National Band Association’s Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence in March at a concert at their school.

Next Meeting
The Fall district meeting will be held at Edith J. Hayes Middle School in Lexington on September 17. Specific information will be available to the District membership at a later date as to time and meal plans.
