District 12 met at Steve Lin's home for our annual Spring Fling
on May 30, 2007. Newly elected officers were introduced: Debbie
Burnell, Band Chair; Eva Rouse, Orchestra Chair; Dr. Kent Hatteberg,
University Chair; Jean Batts, Secretary; Christopher Tierney,
interim K-5 Music Chair; Holly Knott, General Music 6-12 Chair:
Katie Trusty, Non Public Schools Representative.
Awards
were presented to Middle School Teacher of the Year, Amanda
Cornish, as well as High School Teacher of the Year, Noel Weaver.
A
$200 District 12 grant was awarded to K. Michelle Lewis. Ms.
Lewis will use the money to assist students with percussion
camp fees at the 2007 Shawnee High School percussion camp (The
program is in its second year).
Pam
Fleitz, Jefferson County Music Supervisor has offered June in-service
for music teachers of all grade levels. All county dates have
been e-mailed to Joe Stites (Shaun Popp) and All-State Choir
Auditions will take place October 27, 2007 at Assumption High
School.
The
District is saddened by the loss of Louisville Mae High School
Choral Director, Larry Pittman. A scholarship fund has been
established in his name.
